Saint Anton is a small town nestled in the mountains but is the
gateway to the largest connected ski area in the world.
The first day, Karol and Peter skied for about eight hours.
The terrain was quite rugged and the skiing was great. Here’s a ski lodge near the top.
Here’s Karol coming in for lunch.
Here we are enjoying an après ski beer.
The food was also a treat – plenty of schnitzel and
strudel. We ate at one interesting place
that was built as a hunting lodge in the 1890s and was recently converted to a
ski museum and restaurant.
Here’s the view of the town from the lodge.
We took a side trip to Innsbruck one day that it
rained. We walked around the old part of
town and visited all the tourist sites.
I
t seems the Austrians have my kind of humor.
From Austria, we took the train to Zermatt Switzerland –a nice
little town in the mountains where you can see the Matterhorn from almost
anywhere.
The hotel we stayed in was a grand old place that was very
expensive but was in the middle of everything and had great views. Here is the hotel.
We had a corner suite with three balconies.
This is the view from the balcony.
