Kanab Wrap Up

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park               (http://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/coral-pink/)
The weather was not very good while we were in Kanab and affected some of our plans.  One night, we went to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park to capture sunset over the colorful dunes.  As soon as we arrived, we heard the rumble of thunder and saw a flash of lightening in the distance.  Karol and Phyllis chose the safe route and stayed in the car.  Jamie jumped out thinking he could get some great shots before the rain came.  I followed him thinking what a great shot it would be if I could catch Jamie being struck lightening.   But alas, no luck – just some mediocre pictures of the dunes.

Buckskin Gulch               (http://www.americansouthwest.net/slot_canyons/buckskin_gulch/canyon.html)

Thursday, we went for a hike in Buckskin Gulch, which is a slot canyon and hiking area.  It’s not as colorful as Antelope Canyon but it was less crowded and a good hike nonetheless…

Here’s Jamie walking ahead of me through the canyon – it provides some perspective.

There were also a variety of shapes and patterns.

Looks like Zorro may have been here!

And Karol taking pictures to show just how big these rock formations are.

And they had petroglyphs here too.  Those petrogylphers really got around!

 Zion
On Friday, Karol and Jamie went on a day long tour to White Pocket (you can see her pictures at http://shootingacrossthecountry.blogspot.com/).  I didn’t want to go there so I returned to Zion – where the weather was mostly rainy.  I even encountered a snow shower along the way!  As a result, I don’t have such fabulous pictures but here are some of the better ones.

Here are the Patriarchs...

and some other places I don't know the names of.
